Updated U.S. 522 Bypass Design Options are Now Available
(February 25, 2019) — West Virginia Department of Highway engineers will be on hand on Thursday, February 28th from 4 – 7 p.m. at Berkeley Springs High School with updated maps and will be available to answer questions about two new options for the proposed U.S. 522 Bypass around Berkeley Springs.
Information including the updated plan options, timeline, and the informational session is available on the WV Transportation Department website. Find comments for the project on that site in the comments section.
Based on the overwhelming number of comments on the previously proposed design, the two new options would not force local traffic onto the bypass to gain access to local businesses and the Town of Bath business district.
Residents are encouraged to attend and follow up with written comments regarding the two new options during the public comment period. The overwhelming number of comments from the previous design resulted in the current re-designed options. (Update: comments ended April 1, 2019)
